Emporis Maps is a map system. Instead of just searching for addresses Emporis Maps combines location-based information with building data from Emporis.

Building data is essential for localization and navigation as users usually want to get inside a building and not stay nearby or in front of a searched address. As a result, buildings are turned into "rich" points of interest for users. Read why this is so important.

Welcome to Emporis Maps! This page explains what makes our system different from other localization platforms out there and how you can benefit from it. Introduction But hey, what's so new? Find Places Get Directions About the Content External Linking Version Information Introduction Emporis Maps is a localization platform which is intended to work in any country and in any language with the same set of functionalities and search results. Using our service you can locate all imaginable kind of places: continents, countries, states, districts, streets, addresses and buildings. Emporis Maps shows, where available, photos of the found places. Besides this, our system knows the relationships between the objects. But hey, what's so new? You are able to find not just addresses. Emporis Maps includes building data for the localization of places. This means that you can now find structures in more than 60,000 cities worldwide by searching for the building name former building name address or address range construction type usage type usage name tenant name and further data like the color or materials of the facade. As all buildings are manually geo-coded to the center of its base they suddenly become a mandatory part for connecting satellite images with the underlying map information. As a result, buildings, even if they feature only a few attributes, become "rich" POIs (points of interest). Find Places Searching for places like Empire State Building 60-80 Wall Street, New York City Frankfurt, Germany are obvious. But using building data you can now also search for: 107 wall street new york city (the 111 Wall Street building) buildings times square nyc (all buildings at Times Square) office buildings west 42nd street nyc (office buildings at West 42nd Street) blue high-rise france (searching for blue colored high-rise buildings in France) police stations los angeles (police stations in L.A.) lighthouses denmark (lighthouses in denmark) No matter in which available language you search: Emporis Maps will return the same results to its users: police stations cologne = polizeistationen köln. Right now two languages are available and up to 40 language are scheduled to follow. This means that finding places is now easier and more precise than at any time before in history! Get Directions To get directions from one place to another, simply click the "Get directions" button and use the same search functionality as for locating a place. This way you can calculate your route from chicago > new york city city hall darmstadt > frankfurt stock exchange marriott new york > hospital nyc About the Content The information to locate buildings comes from Emporis, the world's provider of building data. The content comes from a number of trusted sources which use the Emporis data standards. This website mashes up Google Maps with building information from Emporis and provides it to the public for localization, routing and navigation purposes. Join now the world's biggest database about buildings on a global basis and become part of our growing team of contributors. If you have a passion for photography, architecture or buildings you can place an application for joining as a volunteering team member of the Emporis Community (which is an exclusive and closed-garden group of building information experts). The community does not just provide a platform for adding, editing and uploading information regarding buildings. You will become part of a grown social network which exists since more than eight years now. Our editors meet up in real life, share information and visit each other throughout the world. As the Emporis Community consists of hundreds of selected experts, not everyone who likes to participate will be accepted as a member (in fact 70% of all applications are not accepted). As a result, only the ones with a track record can become part of the team. New editors are assigned a mentor who will guide the new member through the site and make him/her familiar with the tools and habits inside the community.
